Our Story

Robin is the dreamer, baker, and go getter behind Millwork.  Robin was born & raised in a suburb of Chicago, where her Dad was the founder of Mazzone's Italian Ices.  Starting in their basement, the business grew into a successful corporation making product for their mall stores, schools, hospitals, and even Jenny Craig.  Robin worked for her Dad growing up and remembers how Italian Ice was popular during the summers in Chicago.  Her passion for cooking, baking, and making delicious creations started there and remains the driving force behind the desserts at Millwork.  Robin is able to fulfill a lifelong dream and honor her Dad and family's legacy in her role.

Jerry was born in Dubuque, IA and lived in Dyersville attending Beckman—where many of our employees go to school—until leaving for college at the University of Iowa, where he met his bride, Robin. His first job was at the Cardinal Drive-In, working with his buddies, T-Bone and Doug, earning 50 cents an hour. He has come full circle! He is a 4th generation Iowan and is happy to be back in Dyersville. To him, the Field of Dreams quote is true… “Is this Heaven? No, it’s Iowa!”

Our Mission

To provide a truly unique experience for enjoying desserts, so that people want to come back not just for the desserts, but for the overall experience.  We want people to leave our shop with smiles on their faces, wanting to come to Dyersville and the Millwork building often.

Company Philosophy

To make as much of our products as we can right here at our shop, using only the finest ingredients, in small batches, to provide a fresh, enjoyable dessert experience.

Goal

To become the best dessert shop in the Tri-State area. (Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin)
